Play or Nay?

The NHLPA is currently in the process of voting on the proposed CBA.

A press conference is scheduled for 2pm PST today.

While it's expected that the ratification process will pass, it should be very interesting to see what the actual vote is... that is of course if the NHLPA releases the numbers. Another interesting aspect of the vote is whether NHLPA executive director Bob Goodenow will sign off on the deal.

We shall find out in a few hours.

UPDATE

It appears that voting is moving along quickly and the press conference has been moved up 1 hour, so that will be 1pm PST.

I'd be pretty surprised if the players turned this down, the deal will only get worse.

Any bets on what the vote result will be? I'm guessin 80-20, with the 20% consisting of some the guys who have big contracts and aren't going to see their money. Of course we won't know who voted what, we might not even know the vote at all.

It's really hard to say what the vote will be. Obviously a lot of guys are going to be pissed off because the contracts they signed aren't going to honored in the way they expected.

In the end though, I think the players realize that the game MUST get back on the ice and that the deal isn't that bad. This deal offers them the opportunity to improve their income as the business improves. It's probably a case of short term pain for long term gain.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers aren't released. Of course it doesn't really matter, we just wan't the game back on the ice.
